Visit to Bevis Marks Synagogue

The Bevis Marks Synagogue is the oldest in Britain, founded in 1701 and affiliated to London’s Spanish and Portuguese Jewish Community. The interior with its original furnishings is remarkably well preserved and includes benches taken from the earlier synagogue in Creechurch Lane, dated to 1657.

12.15pm
Visit to St. George’s German Lutheran Church

St. George’s German Lutheran church is dated to 1762-3 and retains a remarkable series of furnishings which include a complete set of ground floor and gallery pews and a magnificent central double-decker pulpit and sounding board. There is a fine German Walcker organ and a free organ recital follows our visit.
