Private visit to the Petrie Museum together with a handling session with Lucia Gahlin, Honorary Associate of the Institute of Archaeology, UCL

The Petrie Museum comprises one of the greatest collections of Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology in the world, illustrating life and death in the Nile Valley from prehistory through the time of the pharaohs, and up to the Islamic period. Highlights include two monumental lions of 3000 BC, fine examples of costume, outstanding works from Akhenaten’s famous city at Amarna, including tiles, carvings and frescoes, together with a fine collection of Roman period mummy portraits.

Visit to the Egyptian Galleries of the British Museum with Lucia Gahlin

This visit will complement the morning. The British Museum’s outstanding collections of Egyptian antiquities illustrate every aspect of ancient Egyptian culture, and include items of furniture, fine jewellery and other burial goods.
