The Triumph of Late Gothic Art in England 1400-1547

Late Medieval England, from the reign of Henry IV to Henry VIII, was a period of unprecedented glory in the arts, despite being a time of war and conflict. The huge wealth of patrons – monarchs, aristocrats and merchants, as well as the Church – allowed an international and cosmopolitan style in the arts to be created.

This course will look at aspects of art and society in this fascinating period.
