The flowering of the modern age - Britain between the wars

The cataclysm of the First World War was the turning point in the emergence of a new way of living prompting a desire to experiment with new ideas, materials and technologies.

This course will look at aspects of British life and culture in the Twenties and Thirties, the excitement of new forms of travel and communication, the response to radical ideas emanating from the Continent, the influence of the Paris Exhibition of 1925 and Britain's contribution in the fields of graphic art, textile design and ceramics.
