Titian - His life, work and legacy

Titian was the greatest Venetian painter of his time, famed throughout Europe and patronised by kings, princes, dukes and popes. His ingenious and innovative work, encompassing mythology, religion, landscape and portraiture, transformed the language of painting.

This course will look at all aspects of Titian's career, his renown as a portraitist, his sensuous representations of women, his use of vivid colour and the unprecedented freedom of technique in his dramatic late works.
