Pigments and Power: New Light on Tudor Royal Portraits
Karen Hearn, Honorary Professor, University College London

Visit to the exhibition The Real Tudors: Kings and Queens Rediscovered at the National Portrait  Gallery

This fascinating display has used ground-breaking research to reveal a new understanding of the character and image of the Tudor kings and queens, and the manner in which the portraits were commissioned and produced. Works from the Gallery’s collection will be shown alongside exceptional loans, some of which are displayed with a prized possession such as Henry VIII’s rosary, a page from the diary of Edward VI and a locket ring belonging to Elizabeth I.
