Henrietta Howard, later Countess of Suffolk created a new life for herself at her charming new Palladian villa in Twickenham. Renowned for her intellect and wit, she counted some of the great intellectual and literary figures of the early Georgian period as her closest friends. ‘I know a reasonable woman, Handsome and witty, yet a friend’, wrote Alexander Pope in his poem On A Certain Lady at Court.
The lecture will explore the fascinating and eventful life of Henrietta Howard.
